Big Boy Room!!!

Last weekend, after buying the mattress for Isaac's new bed, he unexpectedly announced that he wanted to sleep in his big boy bed. We didn't really have the room ready yet except for the basic furniture and wall paint but he was determined to, in his words, "sleep in big boy bed now." So without Scott or I being mentally ready for this HUGE step we went ahead with Isaac's enthusiasm and he slept in his big boy bed for the first time on May 1, 2001!

All in all he's done fantastic! The only big issue we had was rest time for a couple of days. (I solved that with a child-safe door knob cover, :-)) Well, and this morning when he woke up crying/screaming. I walked in and at first couldn't find him. He was wedged between the bed and the night stand. How he managed that I have no idea but he was, rightly so, freaked out and scared, as were Scott and I. Poor little guy.

Tomorrow night will be the end of his first week in the big boy bed and really, we are amazed at how easily he has made the adjustment to the new room and new bed. He's such a big boy now!

Happy Birthday!!!

Isaac turned two today! What a day we had! Isaac started the morning by throwing up a few times. "Woohoo! I'm two! Barf barf barf...woohoo!" Luckily it was short lived and he is back to pigging out at meal times already. I know in 15 years Isaac will be so pleased that I caught his regurgitation on video and even more pleased that his dada was quick enough to move the gift out of the way in time.

I still can't believe how much he as grown. Everyday he does something new. Can this little toddler really be the same baby that grew inside me for nine months; the same baby we brought home from the hospital two years ago? It's hard to believe how fast they grow. Today, like last year I went through the day thinking about labor and pushing and the first time I saw him. Will I do this every year? I hope so. What a happy and life-changing day that was. Happy birthday Isaac. Mama loves you!

Today was clean out Isaac's closet day. He's outgrown a lot and I needed to pack up or give away some things. Well, knowing how much Isaac loves anything to do with "the wheels on the bus," I couldn't pack up this t-shirt. So, while he was napping a made it into a pillow for him. Can't wait to give it to him.

We went to the Houston Children's Museum this week. Isaac always has fun there but this time he really liked the grocery store display. He and his friend Ryan had a ball filling each other's baskets. Uhhh, Isaac had a facination with the cantalopes...such a boy!

YEEHAW for new computers

Our new computer arrived and is in working order. The old computer died a few weeks ago as I was uploading 3 months of pictures from our camera. I freaked, of course, thinking I had lost documentation of 3 months of Isaac's little life. But luckily all the pictures were safe!

Sooo...here are some rodeo pictures from our trip to Bay City. Isaac had SO much fun seeing all the animals. He was fascinated by all the events and yelled and hollered the whole time. Thanks Hammy for taking him to his first rodeo!

Williams-Sonoma always has yummy sounding recipes in their catalogs and I've always wanted to try them out. I finally took the plunge. Their latest catalog has Italian-American recipes and I've made three of them so far. Today I made the bolognese sauce and it is really good. I like it the best out of the three recipes that I tried. Isaac chowed down on it tonight and Scott really enjoyed it too although I only have pictures of Isaac. Try it out it's yummy!

Isaac will surely kill me one day for this post but I just can't resist. He is so funny at bath time lately. When he's ready (clothes off) we put him down and let him walk to the bathroom. He always pauses at he his doorway like it's the starting line of a race. Then, when he's ready, he will race down the hallway to the bathroom. I think he's just gearing up for the cold tile floor but he gets sooo excited. It's really funny to watch.

warmer weather has arrived

We've had crazy weather this winter! Below freezing for days and then the next week temps in the upper 70s. It was 76 today.


Isaac has had so much fun playing outside this week. I can tell I'm in for a hot summer with him. He loves doing anything outside; swinging, walking, playing in the leaves and riding in his wagon. Yesterday after we came inside to make dinner he cried and cried while pointing the to backdoor. He missed outside.

This morning we met some friends at the Children's Museum. They have recently updated the whole place and it is really fun. There is a place especially for little ones like Isaac. It's called the Tot Spot. We had a great time playing and having lunch. Thanks Marla for the free pass.

it was amazing...

So Isaac and I were out all morning and part of the afternoon. We went to Target (have I ever mentioned how much I ♥ Target) then to lunch and then swung by the grocery store. Ike was a trooper!!! On the way home from our last errand he fell asleep as it was 1/2 hour past his regular nap time. I thought to myself, "oh great, he'll sleep a few minutes in the car and then I won't be able to get him back down for a nap." Especially because as I was strapping him into the car seat I smelled the makings of a dirty diaper. Well, we got home, I unloaded the groceries and our things from Target and Isaac remained asleep. He even stayed asleep as I carried him to the back of the house. I stuck him in the crib because I had drank several glasses of water at lunch, and then came back to change him and put him down. He slept. He slept throughout the whole process. Taking his shoes off, taking his sweater off, changing his diaper, snapping his shirt and overalls back together and putting him back in the crib. He slept! and he's still asleep! It was a first and it was amazing. I'd go in there and take a picture for this post but I don't want to push my luck. I'm off to relax for a few minutes...yay!

When Isaac was sick at Christmas he had to be placed on a maintenance inhaler to keep the asthma at bay. Poor guy has to have it twice a day for three months. Isaac fought and cried like crazy the first few days. Now he's pretty easy going about it. He even thinks it's funny to make his toys into masks.

Arctic Blast On Its Way

So last night Scott and I thought we were being so prepared and wrapped all the plants that we want to save during this COLD COLD front headed our way today. Well, it rained all night! I have blankets and sheets galore waiting for their turn in the dryer so I can cover everything all over again once Isaac falls asleep. Speaking of that, I couldn't get Isaac settled to sleep just now; he seemed uncomfortable, so I put him in his crib awake. This almost never works! I'm watching him right now pace back and forth in his crib. I've tried to take a picture of him on the monitor, can you make him out?

He is so tired yet he's holding out for, well, I don't know what he's holding out for. We'll see how long I can hold out until I go back in there. I love rocking him to sleep and I know he's not going to let me for much longer so I'm taking advantage now.

Update: So I finally went in at 2:55 - Isaac literally did a dance when I came in. I held him for 10 minutes while he yelled. (i'd say he was crying but there were no tears) It was like a switch was turned, sleep came on out of no where. He's out cold right now. I'm off to cover the plants...again.

visit with Pappy

Pappy came over for a visit today. Isaac got to have Christmas again today since we were unable to make it to the family party. We had a great time. Isaac loves his new toys but especially had fun hanging out with his Pappy. Thanks Pappy and SuSu!
