We have all been sick this month. It started with Mara, moved to Isaac, went back to Mara, moved over to Scott and now is ending with Scott me. Mara came down with a really high fever the week before we were to head to Massachusetts to visit Scott's family. We thought we were home free when her fever broke the 3 days before our flight. We packed, we planned, we woke up Saturday morning and Isaac had a fever. So glad we cancelled because he became very ill that week. Then of course Mara caught it again. She can't stay away from Isaac and she puts EVERYTHING in her mouth! The virus travelled the whole household and now, finally, almost 4 weeks later, we are on the mend.
Here's a picture of Mara. She had a high fever and was pretty whiny all day until she found the pirate hat! She insisted on wearing it all afternoon!
Can't upload any pictures! will try again later :-)

I'm going to try to do better...
So I realized recently that I haven't touched my blog in over a year. Mara doesn't even have a single post! We just celebrated Mara's 1st birthday 2 weeks ago. It was a fun party and I appreciate everyone who was able to come. I just finished making Mara's "1st Year Book" and thought I'd share it with y'all. See the post below to take a look.

Big Boy Room!!!
Last weekend, after buying the mattress for Isaac's new bed, he unexpectedly announced that he wanted to sleep in his big boy bed. We didn't really have the room ready yet except for the basic furniture and wall paint but he was determined to, in his words, "sleep in big boy bed now." So without Scott or I being mentally ready for this HUGE step we went ahead with Isaac's enthusiasm and he slept in his big boy bed for the first time on May 1, 2001!
All in all he's done fantastic! The only big issue we had was rest time for a couple of days. (I solved that with a child-safe door knob cover, :-)) Well, and this morning when he woke up crying/screaming. I walked in and at first couldn't find him. He was wedged between the bed and the night stand. How he managed that I have no idea but he was, rightly so, freaked out and scared, as were Scott and I. Poor little guy.
Tomorrow night will be the end of his first week in the big boy bed and really, we are amazed at how easily he has made the adjustment to the new room and new bed. He's such a big boy now!
The following pictures are of the moving in process and his room so far. Isaac has helped every step of the way...

It's a......
She is around 6-8 inches and weighs around 6oz right now, at least I think that's what the doctor said. I was just in awe about how much detail you can see on ultrasounds. I'm 18 1/2 weeks along so she has lots of growing to do.
I'm not crazy about 4D ultrasound pictures, they are a bit alien-like and weird. I couldn't get them to scan properly so I took a picture of the pictures.

The Budding Artist
The weather was gorgeous so we headed out to the backyard, set up his picnic table and got to creating. At first Isaac was very hesitant to even come near the table. I decided to start without him hoping he would join me. He would come over for a peek every once in a while but still wouldn't touch the paint. I then turned around to "look at the shrubs" and Isaac sneaked over and stuck his first finger in the paint. That's all it took. He had a ball and has asked to paint again everyday this week.

and you say..."Finally!!!"
Yes, I'm finally updating the blog. It's been a while, well it's been since Halloween. Ooops! It's been bothering me that I've neglected this and it's really been bothering Hammy. I think when she said, (and I'm paraphrasing) "If Molly can update her blog almost daily with a newborn baby, a 1year old and a 4 year old, you can update yours." And you know, she's right.

We had something extra special to be thankful for on this day. We found out we were expecting a new addition to our family!!! Baby is due August 6!!!

So here it is. The last few months in review:
October came and went with Isaac's birthday. He turned two! My long time friend Molly, who owns Lucky Horseshoe Photography, took some great pictures of the festivities.

Next came Thanksgiving. Scott and I decided to break in our new kitchen and host a family Thanksgiving. It was a lot of work but actually really fun. I couldn't have done it without the help of Hammy. Thank you!!! Silly me has pictures of the house but none of all the family that attended.
Next came the Christmas holidays...we had three this last year. One at home, one at Pappy's and one at Hammy's! Isaac raked in the gifts this year! We also had our first real family picture taken this month, again, thanks to Molly and Lucky Horseshoe Photography.

January came and went thank goodness. Morning sickness, afternoon sickness and oh my, evening sickness! Never really sick but mercy did I feel awful!
This past month has been soooo much better, for the most part... I'm into my second trimester so I'm feeling really good and thankfully so because my beloved 2 year old has decided he doesn't need to nap anymore! Oh the misery! This is the worst idea Isaac has ever had. It's not all lost though. We, or should I say, I, still have rest time. Same routine as always, Isaac and I read a few books and then we sing and rock in the glider. He usually falls asleep and then I put him in the crib. Only now, he wakes up, cries for a minute or two and then parties with his stuffed animals while I shut my door and lie down for an hour. It works for us.
Hope you enjoyed the very brief (but long post) recap of the last few months. See you in a couple of days!
